# Let shoppers add an order note

You can add a field where shoppers write a note about their order. Go to **Cart** tab > **Footer** > **Order notes**, then turn on the **Order notes** toggle.
An order note lets shoppers share details, such as delivery instructions. Let's add the field.
## Add the order note field
1. In your Shopify admin, open **Adoric Cart**, then click your cart in the **Carts** list.
2. At the top of the left panel, click the **Cart** tab.
3. Under **Footer**, turn on the **Order notes** toggle, then click **Order notes**.
4. In the **Field** area, enter the **Placeholder**, for example "Enter your order notes."
5. Under **Field type**, choose the size of the field, for example **One line**.
6. Optional: Change the field's **Background**, **Border**, and **Roundness**.
## Make a note required
Under **More options**, select **Require an order note**. Clear it to keep the note optional.
## Make the note collapsible
1. Under **More options**, select **Make add note collapsible**.
2. In **Title**, enter the text shoppers click to open the note, for example "Add order note."
3. Under **Default state**, choose how the note starts, for example **Collapsed**.
4. Under **Icon**, choose the **+** icon or the pencil icon, then choose its **Color**.
| A collapsed note keeps the cart short. Shoppers who need it can open it.
## Change the spacing
In the **Spacing** area, use **Top** and **Bottom** to change the space above and below the note.
## Check the result
Look at the live preview on the right of the cart editor. The note appears in the footer, for example as "Add order note" with its icon.
When you're happy with it, click **Save** in the top bar. To show the cart to shoppers, turn on the **Cart status** switch in the top bar, so the cart shows **Active**.
