# Let shoppers enter a discount code

You can add a field where shoppers enter a discount code in your cart. Go to **Cart** tab > **Footer** > **Discounts**, then turn on the **Discounts** toggle.
Shoppers with a code can apply it before they check out, so they see their savings right away. Let's add the field.
## Add the discount field
1. In your Shopify admin, open **Adoric Cart**, then click your cart in the **Carts** list.
2. At the top of the left panel, click the **Cart** tab.
3. Under **Footer**, turn on the **Discounts** toggle, then click **Discounts**.
4. In the **Field** area, enter the **Placeholder**, for example "Enter discount."
5. Optional: Change the field's **Background**, **Border**, and **Roundness**.
## Write the error text
In the **Error text** box, enter the message shoppers see when a code doesn't work.
## Change the Apply button
In the **Button** area, change these options:
* **Position**: Choose **Separate** or **Inside field**.
* **Style**: Click one of the 2 button styles.
* **Type**: Choose **Icon** or **Text**.
* **Background**, **Border**, and **Roundness**: Change how the button looks.
* **Text**: Enter the button text, for example "Apply."
## Make the field collapsible
Optional: Under **More options**, select **Make add discount collapsible**. This keeps the cart short, especially on mobile.
## Check the result
Look at the live preview on the right of the cart editor. The discount field appears in the footer, with the **Apply** button.
When you're happy with it, click **Save** in the top bar. To show the cart to shoppers, turn on the **Cart status** switch in the top bar, so the cart shows **Active**.
