# Recommend products in your empty cart

You can show recommended products when a shopper's cart is empty. Click the **Empty cart** tab, then under **Upsell**, turn on **Product upsell** or **Side product upsell**.

An empty cart is a great moment to suggest your best products. Let's add recommendations.

## Turn on recommendations

1. In your Shopify admin, open **Adoric Cart**, then click your cart in the **Carts** list.
2. At the top of the left panel, click the **Empty cart** tab.
3. Under **Upsell**, turn on **Product upsell**, **Side product upsell**, or both.
4. Click the section to open its settings.
## Choose where they appear

* **Product upsell**: Shows recommended products inside the empty cart.
* **Side product upsell**: Shows recommended products in a panel beside the cart. On mobile, it appears inside the cart.
## Choose the products

In the **Products** area, choose **AI recommendations** or **Manual selection**. Then set how many products to show in **Show products**.

> **AI recommendations** need at least 1 product set in the Shopify Search & Discovery app. Click **Open Search & Discovery** to set it up.

## Check the result

Look at the live preview on the right of the cart editor. It shows the empty cart with your recommended products.

When you're happy with it, click **Save** in the top bar. To show the cart to shoppers, turn on the **Cart status** switch in the top bar, so the cart shows **Active**.
