# Show an announcement in your cart

You can show a short message at the top of your cart. Go to **Cart** tab > **Body** > **Announcement**, turn on the **Announcement** toggle, then write your message.
An announcement is a good place for news, offers, or a reminder. For example: "New styles just arrived." Let's add one.
## Add your announcement
1. In your Shopify admin, open **Adoric Cart**, then click your cart in the **Carts** list.
2. At the top of the left panel, click the **Cart** tab.
3. Under **Body**, turn on the **Announcement** toggle, then click **Announcement**.
4. In the **Announcement** text box, enter your message.
| Keep your message short. One short sentence is easy to read on mobile.
## Change how the text looks
Use the text toolbar above the text box to change the text size and color. You can also make the text bold, italic, or underlined, or add an emoji.
## Add a variable
Click the **{}** button in the text toolbar to add a variable. A variable fills in a value for each shopper. For example, {{timer}} shows a countdown when the **Timer** toggle is on.
## Choose a background color
Under **Background**, choose a background color for the announcement. Pick a color that helps the message stand out.
## Check the result
Look at the live preview on the right of the cart editor. The announcement appears at the top of the cart, above the products.
When you're happy with it, click **Save** in the top bar. To show the cart to shoppers, turn on the **Cart status** switch in the top bar, so the cart shows **Active**.
