# Turn on Adoric Cart in your theme

Adoric Cart works only after you turn on its app embed in your theme. On the Adoric Cart home page, click **Enable** in the **Enable app embed** task, turn on **Adoric Cart** in the theme editor, then click **Save**.

An app embed is how Shopify adds an app to your theme. It's one switch, and you don't need any code. Let's turn it on.

## Turn on the app embed

1. In your Shopify admin, open **Adoric Cart**.
2. In the **Get started with Adoric** checklist, find the **Enable app embed** task.
3. Click **Enable**. Your Shopify theme editor opens.
4. Turn on **Adoric Cart**.
5. Click **Save** in the theme editor.
> Turning on the app embed doesn't show your cart by itself. Your cart also needs to be **Active** in the cart editor.

## Check that the app embed is on

Go back to the Adoric Cart home page. When the app embed is on:

* **App embed is active** appears at the top of the page.
* The **Enable app embed** task shows a check mark.
## If you change your theme

The app embed belongs to a theme. If you publish a new theme, turn on the Adoric Cart app embed in that theme too.

## Check the result

Open your store and add a product to the cart. Your Adoric Cart opens. If it doesn't, check that your cart shows **Active** in the cart editor.
