# Unlock a discount as the cart grows

A discount tier gives shoppers money off when their cart reaches a goal. Go to **Cart** tab > **Body** > **Rewards**, add a tier, and choose **Discount** as the reward type.

Let's set it up.

## Add the tier

1. In your Shopify admin, open **Adoric Cart**, then click your cart in the **Carts** list.
2. At the top of the left panel, click the **Cart** tab.
3. Under **Body**, turn on the **Rewards** toggle, then click **Rewards**.
4. Under **Unlock rewards by**, choose **Cart total** or **Products quantity**.
5. Click **Add tier**, then open the new tier.
6. In **Reward type**, choose **Discount**.
## Set the reward

1. In **Min. price**, enter the amount shoppers need to reach.
2. Under **Discount**, choose a **Discount unit**: **Percentage** or **Fixed amount**.
3. In **Discount value**, enter the amount, for example 10 for 10%.
## Write the message

1. Under **Icon and name**, pick an icon and enter a **Reward name**.
2. In **Heading before unlock reward**, enter the message shoppers see before they unlock it. The default is "🛒 Spend {{remaining_amount}} more for {{discount}} off".
| Keep the variable in curly brackets. It fills in the amount left automatically. You can add others with **Insert variable**.

## Check the result

Look at the live preview on the right of the cart editor. Move the **Test progress** slider in **Settings** to see the bar at different points. It only changes the preview.

When you're happy with it, click **Save** in the top bar. To show the cart to shoppers, turn on the **Cart status** switch in the top bar, so the cart shows **Active**.
