How to perform test order on a Shopify store?

✅ Option 1: Use Shopify Bogus Gateway (Best for full checkout testing)

Use this if you want to test:

• Checkout flow
• Discounts
• Taxes & shipping
• Order creation (without real charge)

Steps

1. Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Payments
2. Deactivate your live payment provider (temporarily)
3. Click Add payment method
4. Choose Bogus Gateway
5. Save

Place the test order

• Go to your storefront
• Add products
• Proceed to checkout
• Use any of these test card numbers:
• • Success: 1
  • Failure: 2
  • Exception: 3
• Any expiry date / CVV

✅ Order will be created

❌ No real payment taken

👉 After testing, reactivate your real payment provider

✅ Option 2: Enable Test Mode on Your Payment Provider

(Stripe, Shopify Payments, PayPal, etc.)

Use this if you want to test provider-specific behavior

Example (Shopify Payments / Stripe):

1. Settings → Payments
2. Open Shopify Payments
3. Enable Test mode
4. Use Stripe test cards (e.g. 4242 4242 4242 4242)

⚠️ While test mode is ON:

• Real customers cannot pay
• Use only for short testing windows
