Payment Methods. How Payment Method Affect Your post-purchase upsells
In some cases, post-purchase offers created using the Adoric Post Purchase app may not be displayed. This is due to certain limitations in Shopify's Post-purchase Extensions API. Please refer to Shopify's official documentation for more details on these limitations.
The use of unsupported payment methods is one of the main reasons why post-purchase offers might not show up.
Here, we will walk you through which payment methods are supported and which might prevent your post-purchase campaigns from being displayed.
To ensure that your post-purchase offers appear correctly, it is important to use payment methods that are fully compatible with Shopify and the Adoric Post Purchase app. Below is a list of supported payment methods:
Shopify Payments (for Credit Cards)
This is the most reliable payment method to ensure your post-purchase offers display correctly.
Shop Pay
Shop Pay is fully compatible with post-purchase offers created using Adoric Post Purchase.
PayPal Pro, PayPal PayFlow (when used with a credit card)
These PayPal services work well with post-purchase offers, provided a credit card is used.
PayPal Express (with Automatic Payments enabled)
Known as Reference Transactions by PayPal, PayPal Express supports post-purchase offers when Automatic Payments are activated. Learn more about PayPal Automatic Payments.
Braintree (without CVV verification enabled)
Braintree is supported as long as CVV verification is turned off.
Authorize.net
This payment method also supports post-purchase offers without issues.
Stripe
NOTE: The newer versions of Stripe are no longer supported by Shopify's Post-purchase Extensions API. However, older versions remain compatible.
Any credit card processor that is fully embedded within Shopify's checkout (i.e., it does not require redirecting customers to an external page) is supported.
Unsupported Payment Methods
The following payment methods are currently not supported for post-purchase offers in Adoric Post Purchase:
Installment Services
Payment services that allow customers to pay in installments, such as Affirm, Sezzle, AfterPay, Klarna, or Shop Pay Installments, are not supported.
Unsupported Payment Wallets
Wallet services like Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, and Google Pay are not compatible with post-purchase offers.
Bank Transfer Payment Methods
Payment methods like iDeal and Airwallex that involve bank transfers will not display post-purchase offers.
Gift Cards
Orders paid entirely with a gift card will not display post-purchase offers. However, if an order is partially paid with a gift card (e.g., $20 gift card on a $35 order), and the remaining balance is covered with a supported payment method, post-purchase offers will be shown.
Cash on Delivery
Due to Shopify's restrictions on post-purchase offers, Cash on Delivery (COD) orders will not display post-purchase upsells.
Choosing the correct payment method is essential for ensuring that your Adoric Post Purchase offers are displayed to your customers. We recommend using Shopify Payments or other fully supported methods to avoid issues related to unsupported payment methods and the limitations of Shopify's Post-purchase Extensions API. If you're unsure which payment methods to use, refer to the lists above for guidance.
