Upsell on Checkout Page

A Checkout Page campaign lets you display upsell offers directly inside the Shopify checkout page. This campaign type is designed to help increase average order value by offering customers relevant products before they complete their purchase.

Note: Checkout Page campaigns are available only for Shopify Plus stores, because Shopify allows checkout customization only on Shopify Plus.

What Is a Checkout Page Campaign?

A Checkout Page campaign allows you to show product recommendations inside the checkout flow.
For example, if a customer is about to complete their order, you can offer them an additional product, accessory, or complementary item directly on the checkout page.
Customers can add the offered product to their order without leaving checkout.

When Should You Use a Checkout Page Campaign?

Use a Checkout Page campaign when you want to:

  • Offer complementary products before checkout is completed
  • Increase order value before payment
  • Promote small add-ons or accessories
  • Recommend products based on the customer’s current cart
  • Create a smooth upsell experience without redirecting customers away from checkout

This campaign type works best for products that are easy to add to an existing order, such as accessories, refills, samples, warranties, or related items.

How to Create a Checkout Page Campaign

Step 1: Open the Adoric Upsell App

From your Shopify admin, open the Adoric Upsell app.
Go to the campaign creation screen and choose Checkout Page as your campaign type.

Step 2: Create a New Checkout Page Campaign

Click Create campaign under the Checkout Page campaign option.
This will open the checkout campaign builder, where you can configure your offer products, design, and checkout placement.

Step 3: Select the Products and Set Offer

Choose the products you want to display as upsell offers during checkout.
These are the products customers will be able to add directly from the checkout page.

These are some discount type you can use:

No Discount
Show the upsell product without applying a discount.

For example, if a customer is buying a main product, you can offer a matching accessory or an additional discounted item.

After selecting your offer products, customize how the campaign appears inside checkout.
The available design options may include:

  • Product block
  • Text block
  • Product image
  • Product title
  • Product price
  • Discount badge
  • Quantity selector

You can adjust the text and visual elements so the offer matches your store’s checkout experience.

These elements help reassure customers while they are still in the checkout process.

For example, you can let customers know the offer is available for a limited time.

You can add an image to make the upsell more visual.
This is useful for showing lifestyle images, product benefits, or short promotional content.

You can add an FAQ section to answer common customer questions directly inside the upsell offer.
For example, you can answer questions about shipping, product usage, returns, or compatibility.

You can add trust badges such as:

  • Secure payments

  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Step 6: Add the Campaign Block in Shopify Checkout Editor

After setting up the campaign inside Adoric, you need to add the campaign block inside Shopify’s checkout editor.
To do this:

  1. Go to your Shopify admin.
  2. Open the checkout editor.
  3. Add the Adoric Checkout Page campaign block.
  4. Place the block in the desired checkout location.
  5. Save your checkout layout.

This step is required. If the app shows a warning such as “Text block is missing” or the campaign does not appear in checkout, it usually means the required Adoric block has not been added inside the Shopify checkout editor yet. Please note that this process need to be handle inside the Shopify checkout editor.

Important Notes

  • Checkout Page campaigns are available only for Shopify Plus stores.
  • The campaign will not appear until the required app block is added in the Shopify checkout editor.
  • The preview inside the app shows how the campaign may look, but the final placement depends on where you add the block in Shopify checkout.
  • Make sure the selected offer products are active and available in your Shopify store.
  • Test the checkout experience after publishing the campaign to confirm everything appears correctly.

What Customers Will See

When the campaign is active, customers may see an upsell offer inside checkout with:

  • Product image
  • Product name
  • Product price
  • Discount label
  • Quantity selector
  • Add button
  • Optional trust badges or supporting text

Customers can add the offer to their order directly from checkout.

Best Practices

For the best results, use Checkout Page campaigns to promote products that are simple, relevant, and easy to add.
Recommended offer types include:

  • Accessories related to the customer’s cart
  • Small add-ons
  • Refill products
  • Best-selling low-cost products
  • Warranty or protection products
  • Samples or trial-size products

Avoid offering products that require too much decision-making, such as expensive products, complex bundles, or items with many variants. Checkout is the final step before payment, so the offer should feel quick and easy to accept.

Troubleshooting

The campaign does not appear in checkout

Make sure the Adoric campaign block was added in Shopify’s checkout editor. The campaign cannot appear on the checkout page until the block is added.

I see a “Text block is missing” warning

This means a required block has not been added or positioned correctly inside Shopify’s checkout editor. Open the checkout editor and add the missing Adoric block.

The offer product is not showing

Check that the product is active, available in your Shopify store, and selected inside the campaign setup.

I cannot create a Checkout Page campaign

Checkout Page campaigns require Shopify Plus. If your store is not on Shopify Plus, this campaign type may not be available.
